Moomin - Arabia – a success story spanning half a century

In 1957 Arabia Finland began the production of Moomin porcelain, the first mugs hand-painted by Tove Jansson. The Arabia and Moomin success story continues to this day.

In 2014 the Arabia Museum at Arabia factory in Finland showcased the colourful history of the Moomin mugs in the exhibition “Mugs with a story to tell”. On display there were all the original Moomin mugs as well as a rare collection of Tove Jansson’s original tableware.

Now the exhibition has moved to Japan. Exhibition Moomin Mug Story is held at Matsuya Ginza shopping centre in Tokyo from September 17th to September 23rd.

“The aim of the exhibition is to provide something unique for Japanese Moomin fans as well as to increase the awareness of Moomin by Arabia tableware” says Nora Haatainen, Global Product and Marketing Manager of Fiskars/Arabia.
